2. Amazon Ads Unveils SQL Query Generation Tool

At CES 2025, Amazon Ads announced the launch of the SQL generation tool in Amazon Marketing Cloud, available to all customers in early 2025. This tool, powered by generative AI, allows advertisers to quickly gather insights by generating SQL queries with just a text input, eliminating the need for coding. The tool can also assist in creating audiences and launching ad campaigns. For example, an advertiser can describe a requirement, and the tool will generate queries to create audiences for cross-channel remarketing.

 

3. U.S. Dual Crisis Hits Cross-Border Sellers: Wildfires, Snowstorms, and Logistics Challenges

Recent disasters in the U.S. have left cross-border sellers struggling. A wildfire erupted in California on January 7, spreading quickly due to strong winds, and by January 9, five major wildfires were still raging in Los Angeles County. The fires have burned vast areas, destroyed homes, and claimed at least 5 lives. Nearly 400,000 people were affected by evacuation orders, while over 420,000 experienced power outages. The situation worsened with the arrival of the Santa Ana winds. As a result, return rates surged for sellers, and power outages disrupted Amazon’s LBG8-LAX9 warehouses. On the East Coast, a polar vortex and snowstorms caused severe disruptions, with several states entering a state of emergency, and thousands of flights canceled. In this tough situation, sellers need to communicate closely with freight forwarders, manage customer relations, and update order information while considering adding more warehouses and logistics routes to handle the crisis.

 

4. Shopee Expands into the Automotive Parts E-Commerce Sector, Chevrolet Joins

Shopee has made significant strides in the automotive parts e-commerce sector by attracting its first automotive manufacturer—Chevrolet—to join its platform. Chevrolet will sell parts and accessories for all of its vehicle models, as well as ACDelco branded products, including over 47,000 parts, even for discontinued models. Shopee has created product search filters based on model and vehicle year to enhance the shopping experience. According to Felipe Lima, Shopee’s Business Development Manager, searches for automotive parts doubled last year, with sales growing by over 80%. Chevrolet’s entry marks Shopee’s further expansion into the automotive parts e-commerce space, an area currently dominated by Mercado Livre in South America.

 

5. TikTok Introduces New Feature for Easy Content Management and Insights

TikTok has introduced a new feature within its TikTok Studio tool, enabling users to manage content publishing and analytics in one place. This feature allows creators and brands to streamline content management by publishing posts and tracking performance metrics from a single platform. The new feature enhances the overall management efficiency of content creation, making it easier for users to edit and update previously published posts. TikTok Studio now offers comprehensive content management tools, including analytics and monitoring, providing users with a more holistic view of their content strategy.
