2. Duty-Free Policy Reinstated; Logistics Price Hikes Canceled
On February 7, Trump announced the temporary return of the T86 clearance mode. This policy applies to shipments under $800. Previously, its cancellation caused chaos, delaying over one million packages at JFK Airport. Cargo via T86 soared from 139 million pieces in 2015 to over 1 billion in 2023, and about 1.36 billion in 2024—61% from China. When the policy was canceled, several cross-border logistics firms raised fees. On February 8, they canceled or postponed new charges. Due to US customs uncertainties, Chinese packages may face delays. Sellers should plan shipments and inform buyers early.
3. China Imposes Additional Tariffs on $14 Billion of US Goods
Starting February 10, 2025, China will impose extra tariffs on $14 billion of US goods. Tariffs of 15% and 10% took effect at 0:01 AM Beijing time. The measures target liquefied natural gas, coal, crude oil, agricultural equipment, and select automotive products. They are designed to be targeted and punitive, avoiding a broad trade conflict. This move responds to the US 10% comprehensive tariff on Chinese products.
4. Temu Launches Pre-Sale Feature
Temu has introduced a pre-sale feature on its platform. This function is available only for business stores based in Mainland China or Hong Kong. Participating stores must meet key performance metrics, such as on-time delivery, dispatch efficiency, and low cancellation rates. The number of pre-sale SKUs is limited to 10% of the store’s recent active sales and applies only to high-demand products.
5. TikTok Releases Android Download Package for US Users
TikTok announced an Android download package for US users. With the app temporarily unavailable in US app stores, the package lets users download the app on Android devices. Users can watch videos, follow creators, and post content, although some features like Live and TikTok Shop are not available.
