1. Global E-commerce Enters a Critical Phase as Growth Becomes Essential in 2026

A new report from GF Securities shows that global e-commerce competition will intensify next year. Major platforms are increasing investment at the same time.
Many China-origin platforms have already upgraded their operating models in 2025 and adapted to stricter regulatory environments. In 2026, they must drive real growth to fill the adjustment gap.
Short-term profit pressure will continue. Platforms need to invest in user experience, repeat purchase rates, ecosystem stickiness, local supply chains, and fulfillment networks.
These investments, however, help secure long-term competitiveness. Analysts believe the current strategies will shape future market structure. Leading international marketplaces are expected to remain long-term winners.

2. Twenty High-Potential Products Emerge in the UK Market for 2025

The UK is set to welcome twenty high-potential consumer products across tech, beauty, fashion, and health.
In tech, search volume for magnetic power banks has surged 99× in five years. Hall-effect keyboards are rising among gaming users. Searches for wireless CarPlay adapters jumped 2,400%.
In beauty, turmeric soap searches grew 216%. Heatless curlers saw demand spike 4,400%. “Mouth tape for sleep” now reaches 18,000 monthly searches.
In fashion, mesh ballet flats were named a trend by British Vogue. Padel shoes are booming as the sport gained 400,000 new players.
In health, creatine gummies target gym members. Shilajit gummies went viral on TikTok and saw searches rise 9,400%.
In home goods, stone bath mats grew 1,780% in search volume. Chicken shredders now sell over 800 units monthly.

3. Poland’s Pet Market to Hit 9.6 Billion PLN, With 30% Spent Online

According to OC&C Strategy Consultants, Poland’s pet market continues to grow rapidly. Rising pet ownership is driving strong demand for pet food and accessories.
The market has grown at an annual rate of 14% over the past five years. It is expected to reach 9.6 billion PLN in 2025 and surpass 13 billion PLN by 2029.
Growth accelerated during the pandemic as higher pet numbers and inflation pushed sales higher.
Poland also has one of the highest e-commerce penetration rates for pet products in Europe. Around 30% of pet food and accessories are purchased online, second only to the UK’s 35%.

4. Lazada Sets New 11.11 Sales Record, Powered by AI-Driven Tools

Lazada set a new sales record during its 11.11 Festival in 2025.
LazMall posted first-day sales 10–11× higher than normal across Southeast Asia. Electronics, beauty, and mother-and-baby categories were key growth drivers.
Lazada invested over USD 25 million to strengthen its ecosystem. The platform launched five AI tools covering shopping journeys, customer service, and logistics. These tools helped increase order volumes and operational efficiency.
Lazada also partnered with YouTube to expand its affiliate commerce program, enabling creators to tag products directly.
The results show strong festive demand in Southeast Asia, while AI adoption becomes critical to platform competitiveness.

5. Mexico Raises Import Duties on Sugar to 210%

Mexico has imposed tariffs of 156% to 210.44% on imported sugar. The goal is to protect domestic producers and restore fair competition.
The new duties apply to WTO member countries that do not have trade agreements with Mexico.
Tariffs for refined liquid sugar and inverted sugar reach 210.44%. Beet sugar and cane sugar face 156%.
The Ministry of Agriculture stated that the measure addresses distortions in global sugar markets.
