1.Metaphysics Drives Premium Crystal Jewelry Sales
The crystal jewelry brand Karma and Luck reached $16.1M in annual revenue. They serve over 700,000 global customers. The brand blends Eastern and Western metaphysical cultures with modern design. Their core themes are “karma” and “luck,” using crystals and pixiu to add energy meaning. Some products, like the purple crystal Feng Shui tree, sell at $111 — 39 times pricier than domestic versions and often sold out.
Karma and Luck’s website attracts 149,000+ monthly visits. They sell on Amazon and run U.S. physical experience stores. Marketing relies on content to educate, using astrology & meditation insights. They partner with social media KOLs. Ad creatives focus on mood and mystique, highlighting brand stories. Their products cover jewelry, home decor, and apparel, gaining sales worldwide.
2.Apple Powers a 31% Smartphone Sales Jump in Japan Q1 2025
According to reports, Japan’s smartphone sales rose 31% year-on-year in Q1 2025, breaking long-term stagnation in this mature market. This growth was mainly driven by Apple's strong performance. Apple’s shipments increased 57% year-on-year and accounted for nearly 90% of the market growth, largely thanks to the popularity of the iPhone 16e released at the end of February and the continuously strong sales of the iPhone 16 series launched in 2024. Other brands did not exceed 500,000 units in growth for the same period. Additionally, promotional campaigns involving direct discounts, points rebates, and trade-in cashback by Japanese carriers and manufacturers stimulated upgrade demand. Apple’s dominant position in Japan is attributed to a mix of telecom policies, channel inertia, and cultural factors.
3.U.S. Consumers Value Personalization; DIY Car Decor Market Has Huge Potential
The U.S. automotive DIY decoration market is booming. A "Trust in God" rearview mirror sticker has become a recent dark horse, selling 18,400 units within 7 days with a growth rate exceeding 20,598%, topping the TikTok U.S. auto & motorcycle category sales chart. About one-third of U.S. consumers modify their vehicles, with vehicle ownership expected to reach 298 million in 2025. The global automotive decoration market is projected to reach $443.9 billion by 2033, with the U.S. as its core market. American consumers focus on personalized expression, making unique designs a key selling point.
4.Qunar Travel APP Launches English-Language Page
Qunar Travel announced the launch of an English-language page to provide users with hotel, flight, train, and vacation product booking services in English. Android users can switch languages by opening the Qunar Travel APP, while iOS users can do so via the Qunar Travel Pro APP through “My” – “Settings” – “Language,” completing the language change with one click. Qunar Travel data shows that the number of bookings on the platform using non-Chinese passports for domestic flights grew nearly 30% year-on-year in the first half of this year, and bookings last year increased 1.8 times compared to 2023.
5.TikTok Faces Possible Shutdown in Canada, Urgently Negotiating with Canadian Government
TikTok is urgently negotiating with the Canadian government to avoid business closure. CEO Shou Zi Chew has requested a meeting with Industry Minister Mélanie Joly. Although a shutdown order was issued in November 2024, the app remains available for download, but the company has paused investments in Canadian cultural projects. TikTok proposed a data localization plan called “Project Maple,” modeled after its compliance initiatives in the U.S. (“Texas Plan”) and the EU (“Clover Plan”). The app has 14 million users in Canada and has paid CAD 340 million in taxes from 2019 to 2024. If shut down, about 350 jobs in Toronto and Vancouver would be affected. TikTok has filed a legal lawsuit, but the government has yet to respond to negotiation requests.
