DTC brand NovaHair has made a rapid impact with its black hair dye, driven by universal demand across global markets. With over 2,400 ad placements, a 24.09% week-over-week increase, and a remarkable 3,700% surge in new ads, NovaHair has penetrated 18 regions including the US, France, Spain, Sweden, UAE, and the Netherlands. Black hair is often seen as a symbol of youth and vitality in many cultures, helping the product gain popularity in both Western markets, where rich hair color is valued, and in Asia and the Middle East, where dark hair is traditionally preferred. NovaHair’s targeted strategy offers a valuable lesson for other DTC brands: identifying universal market needs can accelerate brand growth.

2. Ozon to Halve Sales Fees for Chinese Sellers in November

Ozon Global has announced a 50% reduction in sales commission for all product categories from Chinese sellers in November, aligning with the 11.11 and Black Friday shopping seasons. This policy highlights Ozon's commitment to fostering China-Russia trade and offers a cost-saving advantage, allowing sellers to maintain profitability while offering competitive prices to Russian buyers. Additionally, commission for electronics shipped from Ozon’s warehouses will be as low as 1%. These discounts, exclusive to November, aim to boost seller engagement with Ozon’s fulfillment network and improve customer satisfaction by accelerating delivery times.

 

3. Shopify Adds Unified Media Editor

Shopify has introduced a new unified media editor for its backend. Merchants can now edit images, 3D models, and videos directly within the platform’s product detail pages, content library, online product editor, and Shopify Email. The editor is accessible on both PC and mobile, though the mobile version only supports image edits.

 

4. Amazon and eBay Maintain Dominance in Europe’s E-commerce Market

According to ChannelX’s 2024 report on Europe’s e-commerce landscape, Amazon and eBay continue to lead, capturing 17% and 14% of regional traffic, respectively. While multi-category marketplaces draw a majority of the traffic, platforms like AliExpress, Allegro, and Etsy also play significant roles. Fashion-focused sites Zalando, SHEIN, and Decathlon reflect strong market growth. The report suggests Europe’s e-commerce sector is still developing, with future opportunities for expansion and consolidation.

 

5. Temu Becomes Top Downloaded App in Korea in September

According to Mobile Index data from October 16, Temu led app downloads in Korea in September with 868,000 new installs. Instagram ranked second with 760,000 downloads, followed by TikTok Lite with 707,000. Temu’s surge reflects a growing interest in discount shopping platforms in Korea, mirroring the success of Pinduoduo in China.
