They launched 198 ads, a 45.59% week-over-week increase, including 159 new ads. 2. Shopee Brazil Upgrades Product Ads to Site-Wide Promotion
Shopee announced that product ads (automatic bidding) will be upgraded to site-wide promotion (automatic bidding) on its Brazil site. Some ads will automatically upgrade, while others require manual confirmation. The upgrade merges existing budgets and schedules. From January 9, 2025, product ads will be locked for editing. On February 5, 2025, any remaining product ads will automatically convert to site-wide promotion campaigns. Sellers are advised to upgrade by February 5 and check budgets and schedules.
3. Shopify Tax Service Upgrades for Canada’s Tax-Free Period
To assist Canadian merchants during the tax-free period from December 14, 2024, to February 15, 2025, Shopify has upgraded its tax services. The platform will automatically apply a zero tax rate for eligible products. Merchants need to categorize products correctly using the bulk editor tool. Additionally, for orders with both tax-free and taxable products, shipping taxes will be calculated proportionally based on the types of items.
4. Amazon U.S. Updates FBA Claim Eligibility Periods
Amazon U.S. has updated its FBA reimbursement policies, shortening the claim submission period for certain cases. For lost or damaged items in fulfillment centers, sellers must submit claims within 60 days. For customer return claims, sellers have between 45 and 105 days from the refund or replacement. Removal claims for lost items in transit can be submitted within 15 to 75 days of the shipment date.
5. Biden Administration Considering Allowing TikTok to Operate in the U.S.
On January 15, sources revealed that the Biden administration is considering ways to allow TikTok to continue operating in the U.S. Trump, who takes office soon, is reportedly considering an executive order to delay the ban for 60 to 90 days.
