2. Amazon Announces New Policies Favorable for Sellers
Amazon is introducing three key policy updates for 2025:
-
Fee Waivers for New ASINs: From December 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, the first 100 eligible items for newly created parent ASINs will have inbound configuration fees waived.
-
Reduced Fees for Oversized Items: Starting January 15, 2025, oversized items using single-location inbound shipping will see fees reduced by $0.58 per item.
-
Increased Seller Incentives: New sellers will receive discounts through FBA starter packages and inbound shipping promotions. Notably, FBA delivery fees will remain unchanged.
3. Shopify Hydrogen Update Enables Customized Storefronts
Shopify’s latest Hydrogen updates allow merchants to tailor individual Hydrogen stores to specific customer preferences. Each store is now treated as a separate channel instead of being grouped under “Hydrogen.” Merchants can publish distinct products and collections to each store, select a store as a publishing destination, and adjust API calls based on the store’s publication ID. This change simplifies multi-store management and enhances customization.
4. Chinese Smart Garden Robots Expand to Western Markets
Smart garden products are thriving in Western markets, driven by middle-class demand for outdoor living. U.S. households spend $928–$1,856 annually on lawn care and $1,500 on pool maintenance. Chinese brands are innovating with robotic lawn mowers and pool cleaners tailored for diverse climates. These smart devices offer automated and personalized solutions, gaining popularity overseas. With 35% of the world’s 30 million private pools in the U.S., opportunities for Chinese brands in the smart garden market remain vast.
5. Shopee Updates Prohibited Items Standards
Shopee Cross-Border recently revised its SLS logistics prohibited items guidelines. The update includes clearer descriptions of restricted items, promoting a healthier trading environment and ensuring the platform's sustainability.
